Creative Thinkers are people who go beyond the traditional boundaries and challenge conventional assumptions to permit new possibilities.
This is definately a category in which Walt has much experience!

All around the world…

December 2nd, 2009

Over the past few months Walt has been on an incredible journey filled with travel, new opportunities and some seriously exciting upcoming projects.

First stop; Japan.

Walt in Japan 2009
For four weeks Walt immersed himself into
    the Japanese culture by traveling
through the central region of Japan on a
    motorcycle. Gardens, sculpture, public
places, local food and culture were
experienced in a non tourist fashion.
The trip ended with a hike over a 10,000 foot mountain pass arriving five
days later at the Kurobe Dam. Other than incredible views and leg busting
climbs and descents the highlight was flying his Kite at the summit of the
pass at 10,000 feet elevation!!! Walt in Japan 2009

Walt in Japan 2009
  Work and pleasure seem to
mix randomly in Wally World as the trip
resulted in a number of business
opportunities. Walt is currently working with
the city of Hakuba as a Design Thinker,
assisting the community in the possibility of
  developing an international
sculpture symposium/film festival. The language barrier and time
difference has provided for interesting public meetings.

Cleveland Rocks!

A week after returning from Japan Walt was in Cleveland for 6 days of meetings and ongoing projects. Walt has been engaged as the creative designer of an apartment on the west side of Cleveland. He will be working with renowned architect Joe Hanna of JRH Architects in a collaborative design of the space including three bathrooms.

Ongoing opportunities continue to unfold in the public sector as well as prominent private commissions and design. We’ll keep you posted

And a very special thank you to the Nelson Aggregate Quarry for donating the stone dust and delivery for the sculpture base.

We welcome the community to enjoy this interactive sculpture located at the entrance of Lowville Park.

BOOM! (goes the dynamite) JEANS

September 15th, 2009

Walt @ the test run for BOOM! Jeans

Walt @ the test run for BOOM! Jeans

Hi Everyone,
Well it’s been a very exciting time around the shop.
Thanks to many creative and brilliant minds we have been working on a project that is sure to redefine your wardrobe and your ideas of art.

YOUR jeans are re-created by way of crazy-huge Ontario-ian Dynamite blasts.
They are post-BLAST Re-assembled and Re-invented with brilliant RickliRivets and artistic accents that only a few in the world will have their (bums) attached to.
The masterpiece is returned to you – - to wear, display… or simply selfishly covet.
The whole process is video-recorded, produced (for your pleasure) by Craig & Sue of Cat-Strat | productions (the co-crazy partner + promotion Agent for BOOM!)…
How do you get that video?
Upon delivery:
- – You’ll find it via iPod Touch in the front-pocket of your (only-one-in-the-world) jeans.

BOOM! Jeans had its first test run on September 10th at the Nelson Aggregate Quarry… and so far it’s proven to be a huge success.

Please log onto www.boomjeans.com to see the process as we begin this incredible journey. Updates will be posted here as well as on boomjeans.com as we pull together all of the footage from the test run.

So far… it’s been a blast!

Harold Ledsham Memorial ‘Common Ground’

September 1st, 2009

Community and the preservation of all things related were an important part of Harold Ledsham’s life. His passion, determination and love for the Hamlet of Lowville were a key component in maintaining the character of the community.
I took inspiration in creating this interactive sculpture from Harold’s unwavering commitment to his community and from a world where nature and finding common ground are vital to enriching our lives. The intent was to create a place where people would want to congregate.

‘Common Ground’ refers to all that connect us as individuals, families and communities either geographically or on larger scales.

It is the things we have in common that allow us to grow, give us strength and most importantly enrich our daily lives.

Lowville Residents & friends are invited to attend the unveiling of ‘Common Ground’, an interactive sculpture honoring the late Harold Ledsham.

Harold will always be remembered for his tireless efforts as President of the
Lowville Area Residents’ Association and his many years of commitment to the beautification of the Village of Lowville. The ceremony will take place on
Saturday September 26th @ 12:30pm at the Lowville Park entrance.

Members of the Ledsham family, representatives of LARA and the City of Burlington and Walt Rickli- designer, artist and creator of the sculpture will be in attendance.
Please join us.

Not Your Typical Rock Star

Thousands of years ago, the glaciers that covered much of North America began to melt. As they slid across the land, glaciers from the north picked up large chunks of rock from weak spots in the Canadian shield.
