{"id":177,"date":"2009-12-02T11:41:40","date_gmt":"2009-12-02T15:41:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/waltrickli.com\/articles\/?p=177"},"modified":"2009-12-02T11:41:40","modified_gmt":"2009-12-02T15:41:40","slug":"all-around-the-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/waltrickli.com\/articles\/all-around-the-world","title":{"rendered":"All around the world&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over the past few months Walt has been on an incredible journey filled with travel, new opportunities and some seriously exciting upcoming projects.<\/p>\n<p><strong>First stop; Japan.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/waltrickli.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/Japan1.JPG\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-178\" title=\"Walt in Japan 2009\" src=\"http:\/\/waltrickli.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/Japan1.JPG\" alt=\"Walt in Japan 2009\" width=\"183\" height=\"138\" srcset=\"http:\/\/waltrickli.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/Japan1.JPG 448w, http:\/\/waltrickli.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/Japan1-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 183px) 100vw, 183px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>For four weeks Walt immersed himself into<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0the\u00a0Japanese culture by traveling<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 through\u00a0the\u00a0central region of Japan on a<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 motorcycle.\u00a0Gardens, sculpture, public<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 places, local food\u00a0and\u00a0culture were<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 experienced in a non tourist fashion.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The trip ended with a hike over a 10,000 foot mountain pass arriving five\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 days later at the Kurobe Dam. Other than incredible views and leg busting<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 climbs and descents the highlight was flying his Kite at the summit of the<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 pass at 10,000 feet elevation!!! <a href=\"http:\/\/waltrickli.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/Japan2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-179\" title=\"Walt in Japan 2009\" src=\"http:\/\/waltrickli.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/Japan2.jpg\" alt=\"Walt in Japan 2009\" width=\"162\" height=\"149\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/waltrickli.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/Japan3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-181\" title=\"Walt in Japan 2009\" src=\"http:\/\/waltrickli.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/Japan3.jpg\" alt=\"Walt in Japan 2009\" width=\"178\" height=\"195\" \/><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0Work\u00a0and\u00a0pleasure\u00a0seem to\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0 mix\u00a0randomly\u00a0in\u00a0Wally\u00a0World as\u00a0the\u00a0trip<br \/>\n\u00a0 resulted\u00a0in a number of\u00a0business<br \/>\n\u00a0 opportunities. Walt\u00a0is\u00a0currently working with<br \/>\n\u00a0 the city of Hakuba\u00a0as a Design Thinker,<br \/>\n\u00a0 assisting the community\u00a0in the\u00a0possibility of\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0 developing an\u00a0international<br \/>\n\u00a0 sculpture symposium\/film\u00a0festival. The language barrier and time<br \/>\n\u00a0 difference has provided for\u00a0interesting public meetings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Cleveland<\/strong><strong> Rocks!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A week after returning from Japan Walt was in Cleveland for 6 days of meetings and ongoing projects. Walt has been engaged as the creative designer of an apartment on the west side of Cleveland. He will be working with renowned architect Joe Hanna of JRH Architects in a collaborative design of the space including three bathrooms.<\/p>\n<p>Ongoing opportunities continue to unfold in the public sector as well as prominent private commissions and design.
